Sustainable Design & Construction
Sustainability
is a conscious and morally informed mindset addressing our impact and interaction with the natural and built environment of today and for the future. It relates to the continuity of economic, social, institutional and environmental aspects of human society, as well as the non-human environment. It is intended to be a means of configuring civilization and human activity so that society, its members and its economies are able to meet their needs and express their greatest potential in the present, while preserving biodiversity and natural ecosystems, and planning and acting for the ability to maintain these ideals in a very long term.

Green buildings conserve energy, water and resources with designed limited polluting of the indoor or outdoor environments. Similarly, self-contained structures use available resources such as rainwater, solar or wind power, in order to reduce their dependence on fossil fuels and other resources. Often they can be constructed of recycled, re-used, or re-purposed materials as well, reducing their total energy requirements for construction.

Building green is the combination of increasing the

efficiency of your built environment while simultaneously lessening the burden and impact on the human and natural environment through design, construction, operation, maintenance and ultimately removal of the built environment. The ultimate goal of building should be to leave no trace or impact on its immediate/global siting.

What is LEED?
The LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building Rating System™ is a voluntary, consensus-based program for developing high-performance, sustainable buildings. Based on well-founded scientific standards, LEED emphasizes state of the art strategies for sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality. Sustainability can be implemented easily into every day life. Reduce energy consumption by doing something as simple as using fluorescent lights instead of incandescent lights in areas that are lit for hours. Proper insulation in walls and roofs, even the insulating pads behind electrical outlets contribute to lower consumption of heating or cooling. We encourage you to explore the internet for many simple ideas to reduce your waste and consumption, saving money for you or your company and ultimately doing your part for our environment.
